A regional commercial law firm is seeking a Bid Manager to join their team based in Newcastle. As the Bid Manager, you will identify and capitalise on business opportunities by effectively managing the preparation, delivery, and follow‑up of bids, tenders, proposals, and pitches across various practice areas. This role includes coordinating with stakeholders, developing compelling content, and leading pitch meetings to secure new business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of proposals and tenders, ensuring timely submission of bids.
  • Manage bid requests and responses through company databases, enhancing the firm’s reputation and acquiring new business opportunities.
  • Identify and address training gaps within legal teams regarding tender writing, pitching, and sales proficiency.
  • Advise legal teams throughout tender and proposal processes, to improve success rates and encourage company growth.
  • Work closely with legal teams and finance department to optimise bid pricing strategies and facilitate approval processes.
  • Analyse results and analytics to refine future tenders/proposals and strengthen client engagement, reporting findings to firm management.
  • Identifying PR opportunities and provide research insights for future proposal/tender creation.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to develop sector strategies and foster client relationships.

Candidate

  • Previous experience in copy/bid/proposal writing and a sound understanding of new business processes and emerging technologies.
  • Able to influence people at all levels and receive and assimilate critical feedback.
  • Knowledge of marketing / BD processes for professional services desirable.
  • Educated to degree level, ideally in a related field.
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) qualification or similar desirable.
