We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager on behalf of a leading UK Developer and Main Contractor. This is a permanent opportunity offering excellent career progression, long-term stability, and an attractive benefits package.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their London team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Design, Pre-Construction Director, Technical Director, and divisional teams to manage the overall design process from tender stage through to project completion.
You will be responsible for ensuring all designs are delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. The successful candidate will collaborate with project teams to coordinate design across multiple disciplines while maintaining strong communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure all project requirements are achieved. You will also ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
The Role of a Design Manager
As a Design Manager, you will be joining a highly respected Main Contractor and Developer known for delivering high-quality projects and adding value across multiple frameworks. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver design information in line with the agreed design programme and deliverables schedule.
- Ensure appointed design consultants fulfil their responsibilities in accordance with their appointments.
- Review and interrogate design information to ensure compliance with client briefs, regulations, and quality standards.
- Provide design input during both pre-construction and construction stages.
- Prepare and manage design programmes, design scopes, responsibility matrices, consultant appointments, and schedules.
- Attend and chair meetings and design workshops with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate design activities across multiple disciplines to ensure project efficiency and consistency.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams to maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Design Manager within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, technical design, and project delivery.
- Experience working for a Main Contractor or Developer.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and industry standards.
