We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quality Lead (Contract) to sit between the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the site-based QA/QC team on a large-scale, mission-critical data centre project in Berkshire. This is a senior, site-based contract role with clear responsibility for managing electrical quality delivery, coordinating quality resources, and providing structured reporting to the SLT on progress, risks, and issues.
The Electrical Quality Lead will act as the primary interface between construction, quality, commissioning, and senior management, ensuring electrical works are delivered right-first-time and in full compliance with project, regulatory, and client standards.
Position in the Project Organisation
- Acts as the electrical quality focal point between the SLT and the site QA/QC team
- Provides regular, structured quality progress reports to the SLT
- Escalates key risks, non-conformances, and programme-critical quality issues to senior management
- Translates SLT expectations and client requirements into clear quality direction for site teams
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all electrical QA/QC activities across the project lifecycle, from installation through testing, commissioning, and handover
- Manage and mentor the site electrical QA/QC team, ensuring consistent application of quality standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain Electrical Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and check sheets
- Ensure compliance with:
- Project specifications and IFC drawings
- BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
- Relevant British Standards, IEC standards, and statutory requirements
- Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS)
- Technical submittals, shop drawings, and material approvals
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a senior electrical quality leadership role on data centre or mission-critical projects
- Strong technical expertise in LV and HV electrical systems
- Experience managing site QA/QC teams and interfacing with senior leadership
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present clear, concise quality updates to SLT-level stakeholders
- Confident decision-maker with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Qualifications
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
- ECS / CSCS (Gold or Black Card preferred)
- Relevant QA/QC, inspection, or auditing certifications advantageous
- SMSTS or equivalent desirable but not essential
