A leading UK energy organisation delivering critical infrastructure and capital projects across generation, transmission, renewables, and energy transition programmes is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to join its growing project delivery team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in high-value, complex projects that are shaping the future of the UK energy landscape.

As Project Controls Manager, you will lead all project controls activities across major capital programmes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. You will work closely with project directors, commercial teams, planners, and stakeholders to provide strategic oversight across planning, cost control, risk management, reporting, and performance analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop project controls processes across multiple energy projects
  • Manage integrated project schedules, cost forecasting, and performance reporting
  • Provide accurate project progress analysis and earned value management (EVM) reporting
  • Oversee risk and change management processes
  • Support project teams with forecasting, budgeting, and financial controls
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools for senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Ensure governance and compliance with internal and client project controls standards
  • Drive continuous improvement and best practice across project delivery functions
  • Mentor and support planners, cost engineers, and project controls professionals
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Project Controls Manager position within energy, utilities, infrastructure, or major construction projects
  • Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, cost management, and risk controls
  • Experience managing large-scale EPC, infrastructure, or capital delivery programmes
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, and project controls systems
  • Knowledge of earned value management and project performance metrics
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline preferred
Desirable Experience
  • Experience within renewable energy, power generation, grid infrastructure, or transmission projects
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and UK project delivery frameworks
  • Professional certifications such as APM, PMP, or related project controls qualifications
