This is an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for further work as the project progresses into a second phase.

The Project

The project comprises the conversion and fit-out of an existing brownfield site into a manufacturing environment, with a broad mechanical services scope including:

  • Office and welfare facilities: Mechanical services coordination for office accommodation, canteen and supporting facilities.

The Role

As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of mechanical installation works on site, ensuring activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the project programme, technical specifications and quality standards.

Working closely with the Project Manager, electrical teams, subcontractors, consultants and the client, you will oversee mechanical contractors, manage installation interfaces and drive progress across the mechanical services package.

You will play a key role in ensuring that all mechanical systems are installed, tested and commissioned to the required standard, supporting the successful delivery of the manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all mechanical construction and installation activities on site.

  • Manage the delivery of compressed air systems and mechanical interfaces associated with generator installation.
  • Coordinate mechanical works across the mixing, manufacturing, packaging, office and welfare areas.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme, identifying delays and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure installations comply with drawings, specifications, relevant standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, architectural, structural and other building services packages.
  • Manage site quality inspections, installation records, testing, commissioning and handover documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, site procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Attend site progress meetings and provide updates to the Project Manager on programme, resources, technical issues and risks.
  • Identify and resolve installation issues, design clashes and site coordination challenges.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Construction Manager with strong site-based experience delivering complex mechanical building services installations.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager, Mechanical Site Manager or similar.
  • Experience delivering projects within life sciences, pharmaceutical, cleanroom, manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • A strong technical understanding of HVAC, ventilation systems, AHUs and mechanical building services.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical installations on large-scale refurbishment, brownfield conversion or industrial fit-out projects.
  • Knowledge of compressed air systems and associated mechanical infrastructure.
  • Experience managing mechanical subcontractors, labour, materials and installation programmes.
  • A strong understanding of construction health and safety, quality control, testing and commissioning.
  • The ability to coordinate effectively with other trades and resolve technical issues on site.
  • A proactive, organised approach with a strong focus on installation quality and programme delivery.
  • Duration: 12 months initially, with potential for extension into Phase 2.
  • Project size: Approximately 70,000 sq. ft.
  • Project type: Brownfield conversion to a manufacturing facility.
  • Focus: Mechanical construction, HVAC, ventilation and building services installation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join a substantial manufacturing facility project, taking ownership of mechanical installation delivery within a technically demanding environment, with the potential for continued involvement through the next phase.
