We are a friendly and welcoming department, looking for physiotherapists to join our well-established Band 5 Physiotherapy rotations. This is a fantastic opportunity to advance and consolidate your knowledge and skills across a variety of acute clinical settings. The role is suitable for new graduates as well as those with previous working experience; those in their final year of study are welcome to apply.
Band 5 Rotations Across South Tyneside And Sunderland Include:
- Critical Care & Respiratory
- Acute medicine
- Vascular & Surgery
- Trauma & Orthopaedics
- Neurology inpatients and outpatients including amputee rehab
- Older persons medicine
- Hand therapy
- Cardiac rehab
- MSK outpatients and Pelvic Health
- Palliative Care
- SIMS
- Paediatric inpatients and outpatients
- Recovery at Home
Main Duties:
- Professional development is encouraged through annual and rotational appraisals, supervision with senior staff from the specialist area, as well as peer group meetings where you have an opportunity to learn from, and to share your experiences with, your Band 5 Physio peers. This may also include involvement in service developments and audits.
- To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of your own caseload.
- To undertake Band 5 rotations and participate in weekend rotas and overnight on-call duties.
- To supervise Therapy support staff, Technical Instructors, Associate Practitioners and student Physiotherapists.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work as an autonomous practitioner using clinical reasoning skills to provide physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to an independently managed caseload.
Person Specification:
Experience- Essential: Comprehensive experience at undergraduate level including Respiratory, Neurology and Musculoskeletal.
- Essential: Evidence of communication skills within a wide variety of settings.
- Desirable: Driving Licence.
- Essential: Ability to carry-out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and to work within an environment with competing demands.
- Essential: Ability to maintain high levels of concentration.
- Desirable: Evidence of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- Essential: BSc Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- Essential: HCPC State Registration.
- Essential: Continuing Professional Development diary including evidence of reflective practice, training and clinical experience.

- Essential: Experience of working in the NHS.
