About Us
South Tyneside Talking Therapies is an award‑winning service and one of the highest performing services at both regional and national level. The post holder will provide screenings and low‑intensity PWP interventions as part of the Talking Therapies team, which also includes other therapeutic models such as CBT, IPT, CAT, EMDR, CFD, Couples Counselling and Person Centred Counselling. The post holder will be expected to commit to a holistic model of mental health and work with partners to address client need through 1:1 work and group work. Staff development and their wellbeing are accepted as priorities. This post holder will be required to work one out of hours shift per week.

Job Responsibilities
- Work with adults who have a range of common mental health problems in primary care, providing high volume low‑intensity interventions.
- Use traditional and innovative treatment methods, including interpreters when necessary and commit to equal opportunities.
- Meet national and local targets for access, recovery and waiting times.
Person Specification – Knowledge
- Essential: Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care.
- Desirable: Knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
- Desirable: Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
- Desirable: Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
Essential Qualifications
- Qualification from PWP Training Course (Postgraduate Diploma in low intensity therapy) or evidence of passing the course.
- Registration with BABCP or BPS as a PWP.
Desirable Qualifications
- Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
- Psychology or other health‑related undergraduate degree.
- Psychology or other health‑related postgraduate degree.

- Car driver and/or willingness to travel across the organisation.
- Fluency in languages other than English.
