Due to the expansion of our Flying Start provision, Blue Door is looking to recruit a passionate and qualified Flying Start Childcare Practitioner to join our dedicated and growing team, on a Term Time Contract. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in children's lives, working in a nurturing and supportive environment.
About the Role
This role will primarily involve working with 2-year-olds in our Flying Start setting, supporting their early development and wellbeing. You will also provide cover for children aged 3–11 years, particularly during school transfers, which are all completed on foot. There will also be opportunities to work additional hours during school holidays in our Holiday Clubs for children aged 3–11 years. You will be part of a supportive, multi-agency network, working closely with professionals such as Dietitians, Health Visitors, Speech & Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Advisory Teachers, the Parenting Team, and our Inclusion Team. Together, we share the goal of giving every child in our care the best possible start and the chance to reach their full potential.
As part of our Flying Start setting, you'll benefit from high-quality, ongoing training. This includes essential courses like First Aid, Safeguarding, and Behaviour Management, along with a varied programme of professional development.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to 2-year-olds and children up to age 11.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that support early years development.
- Make thoughtful observations and contribute to planning for individual learning needs.
- Support safe and smooth school transfers for children aged 3–11, walking with them between settings.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements
- Essential Requirements
- Minimum: CCLPD Level 2 qualification in Childcare Learning and Development (applications without this will not be considered)
- Preferred: Level 3 qualification
- Experience or interest in working with children aged 0–11 years
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
