The Role: As Gardening Department Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day running of our gardening department, ensuring stock is well-presented, creating visual and inspirational displays to inspire our customers and to help sell products. You will work closely with the Gardening Department Manager to maximise sales while maintaining the highest standards of stock, presentation and customer service. This is a fast-paced and demanding role, but it allows for autonomy, creativity, and personal development within the department, too.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising, motivating, and supporting a small team within the gardening department
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering to meet customer demand
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment for customers and staff
- Providing expert advice to customers and delivering excellent service
- Assisting with seasonal events and promotional displays
- Follow guidelines on action points following reports and floor walks
- Print and put out POS material in the relevant areas
The Ideal Candidate:
- Strong horticultural knowledge (formal qualifications are desirable but not essential)
- Experience in a retail, garden centre, or supervisory role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Leadership experience and success in that role
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Experience in stock ordering and stock management
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
- A proactive, hands-on attitude, with the ability to work outside in all weather conditions
