Blue Diamond Recruitment is working with a privately owned and highly reputable planning consultancy based in Birmingham as they look to appoint a Graduate Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and committed graduate seeking to build a long term career within Planning and work towards RTPI qualification within a supportive and well respected consultancy environment. The business has an excellent reputation within the industry, strong staff retention rates and a genuine commitment to promoting from within wherever possible.

Working across a wide variety of projects throughout the Midlands region, this role will provide excellent exposure and development opportunities from the outset. The successful candidate will ideally have gained some relevant work experience during their studies and will have a strong interest in residential and regional planning projects. A good understanding of the Midlands region would also be highly advantageous. This role is primarily office based within central Birmingham, with the team typically working in the office four days per week. The business is also open to considering part-time applicants who may be planning to undertake a part time postgraduate RTPI-accredited Planning Masters course from September 2026.

Key Requirements

  • RTPI-accredited degree in Planning or a related subject
  • A genuine commitment to pursuing a long term career within Planning and achieving RTPI qualification
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic, personable and eager to learn
  • Some relevant industry experience gained through placements, internships or work experience desirable
  • Good knowledge of the Midlands region preferred
