Role Overview
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (until September 2026). Full or part time hours are considered.
As a Veterinary Surgeon with Blue Cross, you will provide medical, surgical and emergency care to a wide variety of small animal patients, including routine and acute cases. You will practice within a high‑quality environment equipped with digital X‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors and infusion pumps.
Operating Hours
Primary shift: Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm. Part of the evening and weekend rota: approximately one evening shift a month and one weekend day shift every six weeks (time in lieu).
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive veterinary care, including diagnostics, medical treatment, surgery and post‑operative follow‑up.
- Participate in clinical governance discussions and adhere to Blue Cross clinical guidelines.
- Serve as sole charge for patients on designated days.
- Communicate effectively with patients, owners and multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Skills
- Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
- Demonstrable small animal or mixed practice experience.
- Sole charge experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
