Step into a role at the heart of a vibrant, bustling town. As a Cover Supervisor you will enjoy flexible hours, stepping in during busy periods and staff absences. Our shop sits on the main high street, in a prime location with high footfall, in a town that is a mix of modern energy and historic charm. The area has a diverse population – from affluent shoppers to local communities and a young crowd from the nearby college – making every day varied and interesting.
More about the role
Customer service is at the heart of everything we do. You will ensure every visitor feels welcome – two-legged or four – and that the shop is a friendly, inviting place to browse. You will also champion Blue Cross and the incredible work we do for pets and people whenever the opportunity arises. On the sales side, you will drive Gift Aid sign-ups, process donations, price items to maximise fundraising and keep the shop floor looking its best. From eye-catching window displays to tidy rails and shelves, you will ensure everything is attractive, safe, and ready to sell. This new shop space is a great place to work, acting as a mini hub for stock, with plenty of treasures waiting to be discovered. You will also support our fantastic team of volunteers, keeping the day running smoothly while maintaining a positive and fun atmosphere. We have a highly motivated team who are brilliant, team-focused, and actively involved in local events, creating a busy but friendly working environment. While there is no free parking nearby, the lively, central location makes it a true community hub and a fun place to work. If you have retail management experience, enjoy variety, and thrive in a community-driven environment, this is a role where you can make a real difference every day.
About you
You will bring retail experience, ideally with some supervisory or management experience, and you are confident dealing with all kinds of customers. Flexibility is key – shifts vary, so you will need to jump in when needed. You are organised, practical, and ready to embrace whatever the day brings.
Your key responsibilities:
- Support and motivate our fantastic volunteers
- Make every customer feel welcome (dogs included)
- Keep the shop floor looking great and well-stocked
- Ensure donations are processed, priced, and ready to sell
- Bring energy, organisation, and a sense of humour to every shift
If you love a role that is varied, community-driven, and part of a high-performing shop in a lively market town, we would love to hear from you.
