Description: Blue Cross is one of the United Kingdom’s leading animal welfare organisations. We are a charity that supports sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals each year through rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. The role is part of an 18‑month development programme for graduate veterinary surgeons who are passionate about helping pets in need to live happy and healthy lives. You will provide high standard veterinary care in a busy charity practice, managing a variety of medical and surgical cases and learning to run your own consult list.

Responsibilities:

  • Run your own consult list, seeing a wide variety of cases.
  • Manage a busy hospital caseload with training in inpatient care.
  • Develop a tailored training plan in surgery and diagnostic procedures.
  • Receive training in emergency work and gradually join the out‑of‑hours rota.
  • Participate in monthly team development days, including cadaver training and external lectures.
  • Provide a valued service to pet owners in need.

About you: You are a practical, pragmatic individual who enjoys teamwork. With a strong work ethic and a caring approach, you will be committed to delivering excellent customer care.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Graduated from veterinary school and MRCVS registered by September 2025.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and application of Blue Cross values.
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant UK small‑animal practice experience.
  • Charity EMS experience.
