As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll step in when it matters most – during busy periods, holidays, or staff absences – bringing your retail management experience to a role that’s varied, dynamic and rooted in the community.
More about the role
In this role, you’ll make sure every customer feels welcome, offering great service with a smile and helping them find something special. You’ll be sorting through donations, pricing items and creating eye-catching displays that make our shop inviting and vibrant. You’ll play an important role in promoting Gift Aid, explaining how it helps us raise even more funds to support sick, injured and homeless pets.
No two days are the same as one moment you’ll be helping a customer choose the perfect bargain, the next you’ll be organising stock or lending a hand to our brilliant volunteers. You’ll take pride in keeping the shop clean, tidy, and well-presented and you’ll enjoy knowing that every task you do helps make a difference to pets in need.
With our shops open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00 and you will help us maintain high standards of service and presentation. You will work alongside a dedicated team of staff and volunteers in a role that is both flexible and impactful.
This is a zero-hours contract, which means your hours will vary based on the shop’s needs. We are committed to paying the National Living Wage, which is currently £12.21 per hour. For this role, the total hourly rate is £13.69, including additional elements like holiday pay.
About you
You’ll bring retail experience, ideally with some supervisory or management experience, and you’re confident dealing with all kinds of customers. Flexibility is key – shifts vary, so you’ll need to jump in when needed. You’re organised, practical, and ready to embrace whatever the day brings.
Your key responsibilities
- Support and motivate our fantastic volunteers
- Make every customer feel welcome (dogs included!)
- Keep the shop floor looking great and well-stocked
- Ensure donations are processed, priced, and ready to sell
- Bring energy, organisation, and a sense of humour to every shift
If you love a role that’s varied, community-driven and part of high-performing shops in lively market towns, we’d love to hear from you!
