Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse seeking to combine your clinical expertise with high-level care coordination? Blue Cross is recruiting for a Veterinary Coordinator at our Newport rehoming, advice and behaviour unit to play a key role within our Rehoming and Fostering Services.

More about the role:

As our Veterinary Coordinator, you will act as a crucial link connecting onsite clinical care with our broader rehoming and fostering operations. Working closely with Centre Managers, our veterinary partners, and a national network of coordinators, you will help standardise clinical approaches, optimise resources, and ensure all interventions strictly align with Blue Cross guidelines. Your responsibilities will span the full lifecycle of pet care. You will coordinate comprehensive treatment plans, oversee regulatory compliance, agree treatment plans, and arrange logistics for external veterinary consultations. Crucially, you will also serve as a key point of guidance for our teams, foster carers, pet owners and our veterinary partner practices. This will include supporting public welfare education, navigating complex clinical cases, and offering compassionate support during sensitive, welfare-led decision-making. You will also be involved in small animal procedures as part of our vet clinic, this takes place once every two weeks.

This is a part-time role working 18.75 hours per week, with the possibility of working additional hours. These are set days across a two week rota. On week one you will work two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. On week two you will work three days, and there is flexibility on which these three days are. This is a 12 months fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. As part of this role Blue Cross will fund your continued CPD and any ongoing registration fees.

About you:

You are a qualified, RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse who brings sound clinical judgment, and a dedication to shelter medicine principles. Alongside your technical nursing capabilities, you possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, allowing you to build strong relationships across internal teams and external veterinary practices alike. You are highly organised, efficient at prioritising workloads, and capable of maintaining exceptional standards in dynamic operational environments. Demonstrating resilience and strong emotional intelligence, you can manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Above all, you are a collaborative team player driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and aligned with our core values of compassion, courage, and inclusivity.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Fully qualified and RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Confident across all aspects of veterinary nursing practice
