About the role

We are looking to appoint a Creative Theatre Technician Apprentice to join our Theatre Team.

This is a hands‑on role offering the opportunity to gain practical experience across a wide range of theatre and event activities. You will support staff and students, help prepare and maintain theatre and performance spaces, and assist with the smooth running of lessons, productions, events and external bookings.

The role would suit someone who is enthusiastic about theatre, live events or technical production and is keen to develop their skills while working as part of a busy and supportive team.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in theatre, live events, technical production and supporting students and staff.
• Has good written and verbal communication skills and can communicate clearly and professionally.
• Is reliable, organised and self‑motivated, with a positive approach to completing tasks.
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Is willing to learn new skills and develop their knowledge through training and the apprenticeship programme.
• Is flexible and willing to support a range of activities, including some evening, weekend and out‑of‑hours events.
• All staff are expected to know what to do if they have concerns about a child, take on the responsibility for providing a safe environment and promoting children’s welfare, undertake regular safeguarding and child protection training and, familiarise themselves with KCSIE part 1 and local policies and procedures as directed by the trust/academy.

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry. As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas. Consequently, we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023 and continues to perform exceptionally well academically. In 2023 our Attainment 8 at GCSE was 52.3 and our Progress 8 score was +0.42 both of which are above national average. The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with 350 pupils on average studying either A levels or Vocational Level 3 courses. We have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.
