Our client, a national civil engineering contractor, are seeking an experienced Depot Coordinator to join their team on a contract basis. There may be an opportunity for a permanent position also after 12 weeks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the NFE Manager, coordinate the local fleet by ensuring servicing, roadworthiness, availability and proper use, including all related administration and driver tracking allocations.
- Proactively manage the maintenance and inspection programme from planning to administration, ensuring all equipment is compliant and fit for purpose.
- Be responsible for goods in, goods out, and stock rotation to ensure quality as well as operational and cost efficiencies.
- Ensure materials are correctly labelled and stored to comply with regulations and reduce wastage.
- Undertake regular stock checks to ensure availability, while avoiding excess stock piling.
- Issue tools and equipment to local teams, ensuring these are returned after use whenever possible.
- Oversee the maintenance of local machinery to ensure safe use and cost control.
- Act as a local representative for buildings and facilities, including routine compliance checks.
- Make small purchases as required to maximise depot efficiencies.
- Take a consistent and accurate approach to record-keeping using existing systems to log and update information.
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks such as replacing cables, fitting signs, lubrication and minor mechanical repairs.
- Make adequate arrangements for waste disposal and collection with waste reduction in mind.
- Undertake site deliveries as and when required.
- Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping in the stores and yard areas in line with legislation and company procedures.
Skills and Experience
- A pro-active problem solver who naturally takes ownership to drive solutions, escalating where necessary.
- Commercially savvy to manage a minimal-wastage environment and maximise profitability.
- Process driven to drive consistency of approach across the business and ensure compliance.
- A self-starter who is organised and flexible to meet rapidly changing business demands.
- Hold a current driving licence, preferably with towing experience.
- Proven experience in a similar role, with knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Demonstrable computer literacy across various software platforms.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at a range of levels both in writing and verbally.
- Experience of maintaining small machinery and equipment, ideally including PAT testing.
