Technical Officer needed!

  • Salary: £16 - £18 per hour
  • Location: Cambridge, CB2
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
  • Duration: Till June 2025 (with possibility of extension)

To ensure the smooth running of events at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and Guild Halls as part of the Technical Team.

  1. Be an active part of the technical team, working with other members of the team to ensure that the day to day technical operation of the venues is delivered effectively, taking a lead role in the planning and delivery of individual events, activities, and projects as allocated, and contributing to the longer term planning for the venues.
  2. Ensure that planning for all allocated events, activities and projects is carried out effectively and efficiently, liaising as necessary with members of other teams, including but not limited to operations, programming, box office, and finance.
  3. Take responsibility for all the technical requirements for the allocated venue(s) during the delivery of events, acting as Duty Technician and Stage Manager and ensuring that the venue operates safely and effectively, in line with all relevant policies and legislation, including licensing, health and safety, and safeguarding.
  4. Act as the Duty technician/Stage Manager for allocated events, acting as keyholder as necessary.
  5. Supervise all technical staff during the delivery of the events, to ensure that the technical teams provide high quality, friendly and professional technical services for all events and activities.
  6. Carry out maintenance and improvements of equipment, plant and buildings as directed by the Technical Manager.
  7. Ensure proper records are maintained relating to events, health and safety and building maintenance, and that all event reports are completed in a timely manner.
  8. Contribute to ensuring that allocated events and activities achieve their expected goals through effective planning and monitoring against agreed targets, financial and other.
  9. Ensure that all financial transactions relating to allocated events, activities, and project are properly recorded, and that all purchases are carried out in accordance with the procurement policies of the Council.
  10. Support the Technical Manager in the recruitment, training and supervision.
