We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Nightshift Security Guard to join our team in the heart of Newcastle. This role is to start as soon as possible for a minimum of 3 months, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. Specific duties will vary occasionally; the following list is intended to indicate the general nature of the post and is not exhaustive: * Crime Prevention Patrols and Emergency Response: Provide crime prevention advice to victims or potential victims and report any issues/defects affecting safety and security. * Foot and Mobile Patrols: Prevent crime, vandalism, and breaches of the peace through surveillance activities (including CCTV), building checks, and hazard identification. * Car Parking and Traffic Control: Enforce car parking regulations within the University and ensure access for emergency and essential service vehicles. * Marshalling and Crowd Control: Assist with events and activities of the University. * Escort Duties: Safely transport cash and valuables. * Use of Information Technology: Utilize various computing packages, including the Security database. * Reporting and Record Keeping: Provide reports, statements, and other records; give evidence in court as required. * Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others, including identifying and mitigating hazards. * Routine Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Tasks: Carry out tasks such as clearing ice and snow, responding to emergencies in Halls of Residences, and assisting with student and visitor wellbeing. * First Aid Duties: Administer first aid, including the use of Epipens and Defibrillators. * Opening and Closing Buildings: Ensure the security of University buildings. * Other Duties: Carry out any other duties within the scope of the grade as required by the Department / Line Manager. Respond to occurrences in Halls of Residences, assist in general wellbeing, safety, security, and conduct of residents. Requirements: * SIA Door Supervisor license is required. * Full valid UK driver\’s license. * Previous experience in a security role is preferred. * Strong observational and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Excellent communication skills. * Physical fitness to carry out patrols and emergency response tasks. * First Aid certification is an advantage. Shift Pattern: * 37 hours per week * Shift hours are 19:00 – 07:00. Pay Rate: * £13.06 per hour.
