Job Title: ON-TRAIN – TICKET EXAMINER
Location: Glasgow Central
Salary: PRO RATA £30,543 per annum on completion of training. The trainee salary is £22,944 per annum.
Training: 7 days commercial training and a 2-day Induction programme.
Contract: Permanent
Hours: PART TIME 20.5hrs per week.
Various shifts & weekend working.
Monday – Sunday earliest start time 04.19 latest finishing time 01.00 hours.

Job Description:
- For many passengers you\’ll be the face of the organisation that they will remember.
- Creating a first-class impression, and making them feel safe, secure and welcome, should come as second nature to you.
- You need an eye for detail when checking and issuing tickets, an organised mind when handling cash and processing card transactions and a level head when patrolling the train and dealing with overcrowding, travel, customer issues and other situations that might unexpectedly arise.
- This role will involve assisting passengers with disabilities to board and alight trains and could involve the use of a portable ramp which weighs up to 15kg; the portable ramp may be required to be carried the full length of a train.
Skills Required:
- We are looking for candidates who have cash handling and customer facing experience.
- We can\’t stress enough how important it is that you are a \”people person\” who can manage all kinds of situations constructively.
- This role is about delivering quality customer service and thinking clearly on your feet.
- Act with integrity at all times to provide helpful solutions to passengers and staff.
- To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a commitment to exceeding customer expectations, have total confidence and ability to deal with conflict situations constructively, be a real team player and highly proactive.
- Your excellent communication skills will be evident, as will the ability to work alone when required and be able to demonstrate individual initiative when required.
You don’t need to have any experience as training will include induction, customer service, commercial skills, first aid, fire safety, disability awareness and conflict management – professionally delivered to give you all the tools you need to master this role.

Selection process: Microsoft Teams Interview + Final Interview with organisation. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical questionnaire. Appointees must submit at least two satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland clearance and complete a six-month probation period.
