Direct Reports: managing 5 Area Sales Managers (Central, South of the Thames, North of the Thames, West & North)

As the business continues its growth journey, we are seeking an exceptional National Sales Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping our future. You will be managing 5 area sales managers.

The Role

This is a senior, career-defining leadership position with full responsibility for the UK sales function. Leading a team of five Area Sales Managers, you will be accountable for driving sustainable revenue growth, increasing market share, and delivering profitable performance aligned with budgeted EBITDA. Working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, you will have significant autonomy to shape and execute the national sales strategy. For the right individual, this role offers a clear pathway to becoming a member of the Board, with genuine influence over the long-term direction of the business. We are looking for a commercially astute, ambitious sales leader with a proven ability to translate strategy into action and inspire teams to consistently perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Growth
    • Develop and deliver a National Sales Strategy aligned with company objectives
    • Drive sustainable revenue growth, margin improvement, and increased market share
    • Identify new sales opportunities through market and competitor analysis
  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Area Sales Managers across the UK
    • Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations
    • Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, accountability, and engagement
  • Performance & Reporting
    • Monitor and analyse sales performance, providing insights and recommendations
    • Produce accurate and timely sales reports for the Directors
    • Ensure focus on profitability and EBITDA contribution
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Support Area Sales Managers in developing strong relationships with key accounts
    • Travel nationwide to support the team and resolve escalated customer issues
    • Work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure alignment
    • Represent Tropical at trade shows, conferences, and industry events

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior national or multi-region sales leadership role
  • Proven track record of delivering growth against ambitious sales and profitability targets
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience developing high-performing teams
  • Highly commercially aware with the ability to analyse data and market trends
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Results-driven, strategic, and motivated by long-term business success
  • Ambition and capability to progress into a Board-level role
