Bluearrow are seeking a committed and proactive Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our Estates & Facilities team. In this vital role, you will help ensure the hospital grounds, facilities, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff.
You will work as part of a skilled maintenance team, following a 3‑shift rota pattern and carrying out a variety of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks, routine checks, and general repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- You will carry out scheduled PPM tasks with minimal supervision, including:
- Performing relevant tests and safety checks
- Boiler and steam plant tests and calibration checks
- Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
- Water testing and monitoring
- Minor repairs, fixtures, and general upkeep
- Lubrication of plant and equipment
- Cleaning and maintenance of drainage systems
- Cleaning of workshops and plant room facilities
- Cleaning and basic maintenance of ventilation systems
- Cleaning and upkeep of lighting systems
- Ensure the hospital environment is maintained to a safe standard for patients, staff, and visitors
- Assist higher‑skilled trades when required as part of coordinated project work for the Health Board
- Provide and receive routine information to support coordination of services, including helpline communications
- Plan and organise your own day‑to‑day tasks and workload effectively
- Experience in grounds, estates, or facilities maintenance (NHS/healthcare experience advantageous but not essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work across a 3‑shift rota
- A proactive, safety‑focused mindset
Hourly Rate: £12.21 - £22.34 per hour
