My client is seeking a Solar Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK. The role sits within the EPC engineering team and focuses on producing buildable, compliant, and optimised designs through all execution phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed engineering designs for utility-scale PV projects.
- Produce construction ready drawings and layouts using AutoCAD.
- Develop and optimise PV layouts using PVcase (tracker and fixed tilt).
- Perform energy yield simulations using PVsyst.
- Complete electrical and technical calculations using Excel.
- Prepare design documentation including reports, cable schedules, BoQs, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, BS standards and G99 grid requirements.
- Collaborate with technical leadership, project teams, procurement, and construction to resolve engineering issues.
Required Experience & Skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or similar.
- Experience in utility-scale solar PV design, ideally in an EPC environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, PVcase, PVsyst, and advanced Excel.
- Solid understanding of DC/AC design, layout optimisation, and constructability.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience with tracker systems and large scale EPC projects.
- Knowledge of HV/MV electrical systems and grid interfaces.
- Experience with ETAP or Cableizer.
- Site or construction support experience.
Salary up to £55,000. Please note: This role is Hybrid with 2-3 days per week in their London offices. This client cannot support with relocation or full Visa sponsorship.
