About the Role
Blue Arrow is partnering with an award-winning further education provider to offer various Joiner and Maintenance opportunities. We are seeking multiple joiners to perform repair works and fitting of fire doors on site, along with other maintenance tasks to support the educational facility. You will help improve the campus facilities and collaborate with other trades within the campus to coordinate work activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and improvement tasks across the university estate, emphasizing multi-skilled work.
- Change and fit door hinges, intumescent strips, and install drop-down seals.
- Adjust door gaps to ensure fire safety compliance.
- Replace handles, perform carpentry and joinery work, locksmith tasks, and change door closers.
- Work within health and safety guidelines, including risk assessments and use of PPE.
- Ensure the safe use and storage of tools and equipment.
- Respond to urgent work calls outside normal hours and perform planned work inside and outside standard hours, using university vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, or in adverse weather conditions as required.
- Maintain high customer service standards within Key Performance Indicators.
- Assist with university vehicle maintenance and undertake any tasks within your competence and practicality.
- Assist colleagues with cleaning and laboring duties, including erecting access equipment and working at heights.
Candidate Requirements
- Hardworking, team-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors.
- Own tools and effective communication skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and physically capable of performing manual tasks.
- Adaptable to various tasks as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- Safety boots and PPE.
- Woodwork machinery qualification per PUWER standards.
- Significant post-qualification experience in joinery.
- Experience with first and second fix joinery, bench machinery, and reading construction drawings.
- Full experience as a Joiner.
- Ability to work independently when required.
- Participation in a 24/7 emergency call-out rota, including fault finding and repairs.
