Blue Arrow is recruiting Dock Security Operatives to join a fast‑paced, seasonal airline catering operation at Gatwick Airport. This is a crucial role helping keep flights running securely and on time by ensuring catering and equipment are dispatched in line with strict aviation and security standards.
The Role
As a Dock Security Operative, you will be based at the loading dock and play a key part in the secure movement of airline catering from the unit to airside vehicles. Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out all dock security duties in line with CAA regulations and training provided
- Ensuring catering is dispatched securely from the loading dock onto vehicles
- Checking incoming vehicles and ensuring all loads are correct, sealed, and compliant
- Confirming all items are present, correctly packed, and organised to meet dispatch schedules
- Inspecting catering carts and equipment for cleanliness, completeness, and safety standards
- Reporting any damage, discrepancies, or safety concerns to the Operations Supervisor or Manager
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑organised dock and storage area
- Coordinating with drivers, loaders, and colleagues to ensure security protocols are followed
- Assisting with accurate completion of paperwork and records
- Supporting airside loading teams or non‑LGV transport tasks during dock downtime
Please note: duties may vary and additional tasks may be required.
To be suitable for this role, you must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence (preferably manual, Category B)
- Be flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic
- Be comfortable working in a fast‑moving, operational environment
- Be able to work well as part of a team
- Maintain a clean and safe working area at all times
- Be willing to carry out manual handling tasks, including bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Shift Patterns
This role operates across various shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays:
- Day shifts: 8-12 hours
- Night shifts: 8-12 hours
