About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy facilities engineering team responsible for maintaining a large, complex estate. You will be delivering planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of buildings, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technically varied environment and enjoys working independently while contributing to a wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, testing, and reactive repairs on mechanical systems and plant.
- Diagnose and repair faults on equipment including AHUs, FCUs, boilers, calorifiers, and general plantroom assets.
- Work from technical drawings, specifications, and instructions without supervision.
- Maintain plant rooms, workshops, and working environments to a high standard.
- Record all work accurately using CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo or similar).
- Support the development of safe systems of work and comply with all relevant regulations, including HTMs, Health & Safety legislation, and internal procedures.
- Work safely at height using MEWPs, scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment (training provided).
- Respond to instructions via radio/PDA and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day.
- Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement across the engineering team.
- Undertake training to work towards AP/CP responsibilities in areas such as medical gases, pressure systems, water, or ventilation.
What You’ll Bring
- City & Guilds (or equivalent) Mechanical Engineering qualifications.
- Completed indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training.
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and plant.
- Experience in a healthcare or PFI environment is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to work independently, interpret technical information, and solve problems effectively.
- A proactive, open-minded approach to learning new skills and supporting team performance.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices and compliance.
