Blue Arrow is currently recruiting a Muti Skilled Engineer to join our clients expanding team based in the Baglan area. Our client is a Global leader in Water and Hygiene.

Salary: 45,000pa (36k + 25% SA)

Contract: This is a temporary, ongoing position with a view to become permanent providing candidates meet the performance and job spec criteria.

Shift Pattern: 3 shift patterns rotating weekly
Mornings: Mon-Fri, 6am-2pm, Afternoons: Mon-Fri, 2pm-10pm, Nights: Sun-Thurs, 10pm-6am

Job Purpose:

To provide high-quality engineering support to the production and operations teams by maintaining, improving, and repairing equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be a multi-skilled engineer with strong mechanical and electrical competencies and proven experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on a wide range of production and packaging machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and automation faults.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including lean manufacturing initiatives and root cause analysis.
  • Support production teams in achieving OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) targets.
  • Adhere to and promote site safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
  • Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering support for project work and process improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments including production, quality, and H&S.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
  • Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled engineering role within an FMCG or similar fast-paced environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in both mechanical and electrical fault finding and repair.
  • Experience with PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automated systems is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards (if applicable).
