We are looking for a part time cook for a care home situated in Amesbury near Salisbury. This role would suit a cook/catering assistant that is looking for a part time job. The care home has approx. 50 residents and you would be working in a small catering team to deliver 1st class catering to the residents.

You would work with a lead chef and 2 kitchen assistants cooking meals for the residents on a 2 week rolling rota where you work 5 days 1 week which includes Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat and Sun working mainly 7am-2pm with one shift which is 11am-6pm. The following week you work just 3 days, Wed, Thurs and Fri. The average total of hours per week equates to 28 hours.

  • Salary: £12.92 per hour plus enhanced pay at weekends
  • Hours: 28 hours per week, 5 then 3 day working week with alternate weekend working, shift pattern is 7am-2pm or 11am-6pm
  • Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 1 year to end of May 2026

Main Duties of the Chef:

  • To take some responsibility for all elements of the kitchen including preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to agreed standards.
  • To set and maintain standards.
  • To liaise with customers, to ensure all dietary requirements are catered for.
  • Catering for people who require different textured diets.
  • To respond to feedback and amend menus as appropriate.
  • To receive training that is necessary to maintain and improve the standards of the establishment.
  • Anything else reasonably requested by the management of the organisation.

Requirements for a Chef:

  • Experience in a similar Chef role
  • Food hygiene and food allergen training
  • A strong understanding of produce and ingredients
  • Great organisational and interpersonal skills

This role would be subject to obtaining an Enhanced DBS Check.
