About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Advisor to support our Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) Manager in driving exceptional standards across environmental management and compliance. This role is ideal for a detail-focused professional with strong environmental, regulatory, and auditing experience within industrial, waste, manufacturing, or similar environments.
You will take a proactive role in implementing environmental best practice, supporting internal audits, managing documentation, and advising operational teams on compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental Compliance
- Work in accordance with SHEQ policies and internal procedures.
- Monitor and report on environmental management activities across the facilities.
- Lead environmental permit reporting and notifications.
- Documentation & Quality
- Update environmental management documents and support staff environmental awareness training.
- Liaise with regulators and service providers to collate and maintain compliance records.
- Use internal business systems such as CODA, SharePoint, and EPRAIS.
- Audits & Inspections
- Lead environmental audits, produce reports, and manage corrective actions.
- Support external audits (EA, HSE, BSI, etc.).
- Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to environmental management projects.
- Lead the Waste Audit Team and support quarterly sampling requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide environmental guidance to site teams.
- Attend business meetings, briefings, and operational sessions.
- Team Leadership
- Line-manage a team of Waste Auditors.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 (Medium Risk Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment & Transfer).
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar Environmental Advisor role.
- Experience working with regulators (EA, HSE, etc.).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams.
- Good knowledge of audit processes, environmental reporting, and quality systems.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities.
- Confident communicator with leadership capability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
Desirable
- Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2).
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications.
- Experience with business systems like Mainsaver, TMS, EPRAIS, and CODA.
