We're seeking a confident and motivated Team Leader to support the day-to-day running of nursery rooms and help drive high-quality childcare across our setting. About the Role
As a Team Leader, you'll be a key member of the Nursery Management Team, responsible for leading room teams, upholding exemplary standards of practice, and ensuring children receive the highest levels of care and education. You will act as a role model, mentor, and point of contact for both staff and parents, while supporting the smooth and effective running of the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
- Early Years Leadership
- Ensure the EYFS is implemented to an exemplary standard throughout your team.
- Act as an outstanding key person and role model for best practice.
- Lead on at least one Early Years initiative or project.
- Be the first point of contact for parent queries within your team.
- Carry out audits and maintain strong safeguarding standards.
- People Management
- Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and guidance to team members.
- Support recruitment activities, including shortlisting and interviewing.
- Oversee inductions, probation, and performance management processes.
- Identify training needs and support staff development.
- Manage staffing queries, rotas, and return-to-work meetings.
- Finance & Administration
- Support invoicing, bad debt management, and payroll queries.
- Develop an understanding of budgets and manage a small team budget.
- Health & Safety
- Promote safe working practices and proactively manage risk.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation.
- Family Experience & Marketing
- Support occupancy growth through marketing initiatives and show rounds.
- Contribute to social media and wider promotional activities.
- Ensure rooms are well-presented and showcase high standards at all times.
- Environment & Maintenance
- Ensure equipment, toys, and resources are well maintained.
- Follow up maintenance and building-related issues effectively.
Person Specification
Essential
- Full and relevant Early Years qualification
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Experience leading a team and handling staff-related matters
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and equality legislation
- Paediatric First Aid
- Satisfactory DBS check
Desirable
- Higher Early Years qualification or willingness to study
- Leadership/management qualification or willingness to study
