Role Overview
We are seeking an HR Assistant to provide proactive administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, personnel file digitisation, flexible working and payroll activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, employment legislation and GDPR.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Onboarding
- Provide end‑to‑end recruitment administration, ensuring a professional candidate experience.
- Process Authority to Recruit documentation and support approval processes.
- Prepare and publish job adverts; format job descriptions in line with templates.
- Coordinate interview arrangements, prepare interview packs and manage candidate records.
- Issue candidate correspondence, offers, contracts and contract variations.
- Administer pre-employment checks (PVG, references, right to work).
- Support onboarding and liaise with ICT and relevant teams to ensure system access and equipment.
- Personnel File Digitisation
- Review, cleanse and digitise personnel files in line with GDPR and retention schedules.
- Scan, upload and quality-check records within the HRIS.
- Ensure confidentiality, data accuracy and secure storage of records.
- Liaise with HR and Payroll to resolve discrepancies.
- Flexible Working
- Administer flexible working requests in line with policy and legislation.
- Coordinate documentation and circulate requests for consideration.
- Payroll & HR Systems
- Process routine payroll-related payments and invoices using the P2P system.
- Maintain accurate employee records on the HRIS (starters, leavers, changes).
Qualifications & Experience
- CIPD qualified (or working towards) with evidence of CPD.
- Experience supporting end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Experience working with HR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of HR policies, employment legislation, GDPR, right to work and references.
- Public sector or education experience desirable.

- Confident using digital systems and document management tools.
