We are currently recruiting for a reliable and motivated Overhead Crane Operative on a temp to perm basis to join our client based in Middlesbrough. The successful candidate will have experience of working within heavy engineering and also hold a Counterbalance FLT license. This hands-on role is vital to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of steel and finished parts throughout the site, supporting production and dispatch activities.

Job duties:

  • Loading and unloading vehicles safely
  • Pre-picking steel plate for production and moving materials to and from stock and machinery
  • Operating remote-controlled overhead cranes to move steel plates and finished components
  • Moving produced parts to dispatch and preparing them for shipment
  • Supplying steel plates to machine operators as required
  • Marking incoming steel with unique identification and coding offcuts returned to stock
  • Assisting with burning scrap skeletons using oxy-fuel burning torches
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across work areas
  • Ensuring safe use of machinery and strict adherence to health & safety standards
  • Supporting other duties as required as and when required

Please note due to license restrictions, we are only able to accept valid certificates for the Overhead Crane, though inhouse tickets for the Counterbalance will be considered.

Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, Early finish on a Friday, 44hrs per week

Salary: £12.71ph - £14.40ph, Uplifted rates after a successful period of training within the business.
