The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join a growing engineering business delivering automation and control systems projects across a variety of sectors. This role will involve designing, developing, testing and commissioning PLC, HMI and safety software for bespoke machinery and automation projects. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from initial software design through to commissioning and customer handover. The position is primarily office-based during the design phase, with travel to customer sites required during commissioning activities. Flexible or hybrid working may be available during suitable project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC and HMI software for industrial automation and machinery projects.
- Develop software using Siemens TIA Portal/S7 and/or Rockwell Studio 5000 platforms.
- Support legacy control systems where required.
- Write PLC software from first principles based on project specifications and functional requirements.
- Develop, test and commission safety-related control systems.
- Configure and commission VFDs, servo drives, motion control systems, etc.
