We are currently recruiting for a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join a busy catering team within an educational setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food service, and customer care.

Working as part of a friendly team, you will support the day-to-day operation of a catering facility, helping to provide a quality food service to students, staff, and visitors.

Hours

  • Monday to Friday Approx. 9:00am to 3:00pm
  • 27.5 hours per week
  • Term time only

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with food preparation and basic kitchen duties
  • Serving meals and refreshments in a professional and friendly manner
  • Operating dishwashing equipment and ensuring crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils are cleaned to a high standard
  • Maintaining kitchen, servery, and dining areas in line with food hygiene requirements
  • Following cleaning schedules and completing routine sanitation tasks
  • Monitoring and replenishing stock as required
  • Supporting stock checks and storage procedures
  • Ensuring workspaces remain clean, safe, and organised throughout the day
  • Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures
  • Adhering to food safety, health and safety, and allergen management procedures
  • Supporting the wider catering team with additional duties as required

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment
  • Food Safety Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience serving customers in a busy setting
  • Experience working within education, healthcare, or contract catering environments
