About the Role
Blue Arrow are seeking experienced and flexible Relief Catering Managers to join our growing pool of hospitality professionals. Working on a relief basis, you will provide management cover for a range of catering operations within Derbyshire, Nottingham & Staffordshire. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in new environments, and can quickly adapt to different teams, client expectations, and service styles.
As a Catering Manager, you will be deployed to sites requiring short-term or medium-term management support due to sickness, annual leave, vacancies, or increased demand.
Working Hours: The working hours will vary from site to site and may result in more/less work depending on your flexibility. Shifts will include 5 days out of 7 which will include weekends, however majority are day shifts working anything from 7/9am till 4/5pm
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support catering teams in a variety of client settings
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of kitchen and front-of-house services
- Oversee food quality, presentation, and service standards
- Maintain strict compliance with food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier communications
- Handle rota planning, staffing issues, and team coordination
- Build strong working relationships with clients and represent the agency professionally
- Quickly familiarise yourself with site procedures and operational requirements
- Provide reliable, flexible cover at short notice when needed
The working environment: Due to the various types of sites we cover your working environment will change from site to site. We will look to place you in the most comfortable environments for you. A lot of our events businesses will have several hospitality environments on site, from coffee shops to restaurants and kitchens, to pizza vans and ice cream parlours. You may be required to oversee all operations alongside the general manager and head chef. Front and back of house responsibilities which will include coffee making, till work, some basic food prep and customer liaising.
About You
- Previous experience in catering management or senior supervisory roles
- Able to work confidently across different sites and styles (education, care, B&I, leisure, etc.)
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Food Hygiene Level 2 or 3 (or willingness to refresh)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (desirable)
