We are seeking a reliable and proactive part time Premises Officer to join our school and help ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. You will take pride in the appearance and smooth running of the school site and play a key role in creating a positive environment for learning.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 7am till 12.30pm.
Key Responsibilities- Site Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and DIY tasks across the school buildings and grounds.
- Identify and report larger maintenance issues to management or external contractors.
- Monitor and maintain the condition of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and external areas.
- Cleaning & Facilities Management
- Oversee cleaning standards and support cleaning staff where necessary.
- Maintain stock of cleaning and maintenance materials.
- Ensure the site is clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
- Grounds & Outdoor Areas
- Maintain outdoor areas, including litter picking, gritting pathways in winter, and basic gardening.
- Ensure playgrounds, car parks, and entrances remain safe and well-kept.
- General Duties
- Set up rooms for events, meetings, and school activities.
- Assist with deliveries, moving furniture, and general caretaking tasks.
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests and urgent issues.
- Essential
- Experience in a premises, cleaning, caretaking, or maintenance role.
- Good practical skills (DIY, basic plumbing, decorating, minor electrical work).
- Strong awareness of health & safety.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to take initiative.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.
- Desirable
- Previous experience in a school environment.
- Knowledge of site compliance checks (e.g., Legionella, fire safety).
- DBS must be on the update service.
