Office based in central London
Expected Working Hours: Fridays 10 hours 7am to 5pm, 30 minutes break unpaid OR 2 hours 6am to 8am Monday to Friday. Some flexibility required for seasonal peaks or reactive issues.
ROLE PURPOSE
To maintain and enhance the health, presentation, and longevity of indoor plants across the client's London office, ensuring a consistently high-quality environment aligned with workplace standards and brand expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plant Care & Maintenance: Water, feed, prune, clean, dust, and maintain all indoor plants and planters. Monitor plant health; identify and address early signs of pests, disease, nutrient issues, or stress. Conduct soil checks, repotting, top-dressing, and plant rotation as required.
- Plant Replacement & Sourcing: Recommend replacements where required and propose suitable species based on light, airflow, temperature, and usage patterns. Liaise with Facilities/Workplace teams regarding new plants, upgrades, layout changes, or project work.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure plants meet agreed presentation standards at all times. Follow safe working practices (manual handling, spill controls, tool safety, chemical safety). Complete any required site induction, security/access procedures, and compliance training.
- Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates on plant health, inventory changes, and issues observed. Escalate environmental problems (e.g., lighting failures, temperature/humidity issues) impacting plant health. Submit periodic reports (e.g., monthly/quarterly), if required by the client or FM team.
- Coordination & Planning: Plan efficient maintenance routes and schedules across floors/areas. Coordinate with Facilities for access, plant replacements, supplier matters, and small projects. Support office moves/refurbishments involving planting as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in horticulture, indoor plant care, or similar maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of indoor tropical plants, succulents, and large potted specimens.
- Familiarity with pest control, feeding schedules, and general plant diagnostics.
- Competent with hand tools; knowledge of irrigation systems advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a client-facing environment.
- Professional communication suitable for a corporate office setting.
- Physically fit and comfortable lifting/carrying and working around office environments.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- RHS Level 2 or equivalent horticultural qualification.
- Experience in commercial/office horticulture or interior landscape maintenance role.
- Awareness of sustainable plant care practices (e.g., peat-free media, natural pest control).
ON-SITE COMMITMENTS
Occasional coordination for plant replacements, supplier matters, or small project support.
