About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the maintenance, repair, servicing, and safe operation of our specialist emergency response vehicles and equipment. This role is essential to ensuring operational readiness across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair, maintain, diagnose faults, and overhaul specialist fire and rescue vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct PSV/MOT inspections and certify vehicles as roadworthy.
- Perform electrical diagnostics, 110v/240v repairs, PAT testing, and electronic fault finding.
- Carry out fabrication, welding (MIG/TIG/ARC), bodywork repairs, and hydraulic system maintenance.
- Respond to roadside repairs, support operational incidents, and work at heights on aerial appliances.
- Participate in the on-call rota, making independent repair decisions out of hours.
- Operate and record data on the MIS system and MAHA PSV/MOT testing lane.
- Manage stock, tools, parts, and workshop consumables in line with the procedures used.
- Support firefighters with technical guidance and assist in supervising apprentices.
- Maintain compliance with the policies used, safety standards, vehicle legislation, and audit requirements.
- Liaise with manufacturers, support investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement.
