We’re delighted to have been appointed to lead the search for this major education establishment, as they look to up the ante on the management of their tax affairs. This is first and foremost a VAT role but you’ll also need the interest and impact to pick up on other areas of tax that you might be less au fait with e.g. international tax.

The role will be to develop and implement a comprehensive tax strategy; provide advice to senior leadership on the tax implications or strategic initiatives, including international expansion, capital projects and commercial ventures. You’ll also lead on the development and implementation of tax policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with all legislation, as well as overseeing the preparation and submission of returns and filings.

To meet their criteria, you’ll need extensive experience of VAT advisory and compliance in a complex environment and have proven ability in leading on projects and developing team members. A qualification; and knowledge of tax in the not for profit/education sector would be positives.

The successful applicant could be based in the North-West of the UK, although they are also alive to appropriately skilled candidates living further afield in the UK, but who are prepared to spend some time on campus on a monthly basis.
