Bloxham School is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our Sports Coaching team in a Sports Coaching Support role on Saturdays during term time. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about sport, youth development and contributing to a dynamic and purposeful school community.

Compensation: £3,166 per annum

Working Arrangements: 7.5 hours on a Saturday, 30 weeks a year during term time

Start Date: September 2026

About Us: The Sports Coaching Department at Bloxham School is committed to developing pupils’ physical fitness, technical skill and character. About the Role: As part of the Sports Coaching Support team, you will:

  • Assist with the delivery of the school’s sports coaching programme across a range of sports.
  • Support teams, coaches and pupils during fixtures, predominantly on Saturdays.
  • Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating strong personal standards and professionalism.
  • Attend whole-school and departmental INSET as required.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and inspiring sporting environment.

About You: We are looking for individuals who are energetic, reliable and motivated, with a genuine passion for helping young athletes thrive.

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent.
  • Experience in sports coaching.
  • Strong organisational and coaching skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage groups of young people effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Coaching qualifications in sports such as hockey, rugby, netball, tennis, badminton or cricket.
  • Experience managing pupils and parents in an educational setting.
  • Current First Aid at Work certificate.
  • A proactive and flexible approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children.
  • Punctuality and readiness to prepare sessions and equipment in advance.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media account names/handles, as part of their application. The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom the holder is responsible, or with whom the holder comes into contact. The holder will be required to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self‑declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
