Blott is a London-based technology consultancy specialising in product design, software engineering, data, and AI/ML.

Our team of approximately 30 people works with ambitious organisations to design, build, and scale high-quality digital products and technology platforms.

Our clients include Monzo, Xapo Bank, 20VC, the Financial Times, BMW, Samsung, and Vizrt.

We are also partners with AWS, Databricks, NVIDIA, and Webflow.

We are now hiring our first dedicated Business Development Manager to build Blott's sales function and accelerate our growth within regulated financial services.

The opportunity

This is a founding sales role for someone who wants to build, not inherit, a sales function.

You will be the senior individual contributor responsible for developing new business across banks, insurers, and asset managers.

You will own the full commercial cycle, from identifying target accounts and generating opportunities through to leading pitches, negotiating proposals, and closing engagements.

You will also help grow existing accounts, develop Blott's sales processes, and coach a small SDR team as the function expands.

This is a hands-on role.

You will be expected to prospect personally, build senior relationships, create qualified pipeline, and lead opportunities through complex buying processes.

It is not a role for someone looking to manage a large team, inherit an established pipeline, or depend on a substantial marketing budget.

  • What you will be responsible for
  • Building Blott's financial services business development function from the ground up
  • Identifying and prioritising target accounts across banks, insurers, and asset managers
  • Developing and executing a personal outbound prospecting system
  • Self-generating qualified opportunities through targeted outreach, referrals, partnerships, events, and network development
  • Building relationships with senior buyers, including COOs, CDOs, CTOs, and other executive stakeholders
  • Diagnosing complex business and technology problems and shaping relevant consulting engagements
  • Leading discovery meetings, pitches, proposals, commercial negotiations, and closing activity
  • Coordinating Blott's design, engineering, data, and AI specialists throughout the sales process
  • Developing compelling proposals, statements of work, and commercial models
  • Managing long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, typically lasting six to nine months
  • Growing existing client accounts by identifying new problems Blott can solve
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting
  • Coaching and developing a small SDR team while remaining personally accountable for revenue generation
  • Helping define Blott's sales methodology, messaging, tooling, and operating cadence
  • What success looks like

During your first year, you will

  • Establish a repeatable account targeting and prospecting system
  • Build a credible pipeline across Blott's priority financial services sectors
  • Create strong relationships with senior decision-makers in target organisations
  • Close two to four new consulting engagements
  • Generate approximately £500,000 to £1.2 million in new business
  • Create the foundations of a scalable sales function without introducing unnecessary process or overhead
  • Typical Blott engagements are worth approximately £150,000 to £400,000 and involve multiple technical, operational, procurement, and executive stakeholders.

You must have

  • A strong track record selling consulting or professional services
  • Experience as a founding seller, first sales hire, or territory builder responsible for creating a market from zero
  • Experience selling into regulated financial services, specifically banks, insurers, or asset managers
  • Credibility engaging senior buyers such as COOs, CDOs, CTOs, and equivalent executive stakeholders
  • A demonstrable ability to self-generating pipeline rather than relying primarily on inbound leads, SDRs, or marketing
  • A clear personal prospecting methodology and the discipline to execute it consistently
  • Experience selling six-figure engagements with sales cycles of at least six months
  • Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder buying processes
  • Strong commercial judgement across qualification, solution shaping, pricing, proposal development, negotiation, and closing
  • The ability to lead pitches and coordinate senior technical and creative specialists
  • The right to work in the UK and the ability to work regularly with the team in London
  • Important background requirement

This role requires experience selling consulting or professional services.

Candidates whose experience is exclusively in Saa S, software licensing, or product-led sales will not be suitable unless they can also demonstrate substantial responsibility for selling complex consulting or professional services engagements.

The person we are looking for

You are likely to thrive at Blott if you

  • Are hungry, commercially ambitious, and comfortable being accountable for a number
  • Prefer building a sales function to joining a mature corporate sales organisation
  • Are willing to prospect personally and create your own opportunities
  • Can operate independently without a large team, established playbook, or significant budget
  • Understand how to sell expertise, outcomes, and transformation rather than a standardised product
  • Are credible with senior financial services stakeholders while remaining practical and hands-on
  • Can move comfortably between strategic conversations and detailed commercial execution
  • Know when to involve specialists and how to turn their expertise into a compelling client proposition
  • Enjoy working in a growing consultancy where you can materially influence the company's direction
  • Are motivated by the opportunity to create long-term value rather than by corporate infrastructure or title

What we offer

  • The opportunity to become the founding commercial hire at a growing technology consultancy
  • Direct access to Blott's leadership, delivery teams, and specialist expertise
  • A strong portfolio of recognised clients and technology partners
  • The freedom to shape Blott's sales strategy, process, positioning, and team
  • A senior individual contributor role with meaningful ownership and influence
  • A competitive package combining base salary and performance-related commission, aligned with the stage and scale of a growing consultancy
  • Hybrid working with regular collaboration in London
