The Gardener is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the landscapes and gardens around private properties, public parks, estates, or commercial buildings. They ensure that plants, flowers, lawns, trees, and shrubs are healthy and well-kept through regular maintenance, seasonal planting, and landscape improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plant and nurture new trees, flowers, plants, and shrubs.
- Maintain lawns by mowing, watering, aerating, and feeding.
- Prune trees and bushes to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.
- Remove weeds, dead plants, and other debris to keep gardens tidy.
- Monitor plant health and apply fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides when necessary.
- Assist with the planning of new garden layouts based on client specifications or seasonal needs.
- Operate and maintain gardening tools and machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform manual outdoor work is essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Good communication skills to liaise with clients and business owner is essential.

Working Conditions:
- Fixed term contract 36 weeks until 27th November 2026, 7.5 hours per day, 2 days per week.
- Lunch break 30 minutes unpaid.
- In adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, the ability to change working days and times in agreement with business owner is essential.
- This can be the case if jobs must be rescheduled and/or cancelled.
- Will involve lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
Pay:
- Age 21 & over (National Living Wage): £12.71 per hour.
- Age 18–20: £10.85 per hour.
- Age 16–17: £8.00 per hour.
