Bloomberg Media seeks a managing editor to lead and grow our global lifestyle and culture coverage. The ideal candidate will be an experienced journalist and inspiring leader, fluent across digital and print platforms, with a deep understanding of Bloomberg’s audience, a passion for insightful lifestyle and culture journalism, and a broad editorial sensibility.
The managing editor will oversee a global team of editors and writers, direct editorial strategy and operations for Pursuits across platforms, and collaborate with other teams to develop new features and products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Pursuits team—hire, manage, and mentor writers, editors, and guest critics, fostering a collaborative, ambitious, and inclusive environment.
- Set and uphold high standards for the quality, uniqueness, and performance of Bloomberg’s global lifestyle and culture coverage (including travel, food, wellness, arts, and entertainment).
- Collaborate with the Weekend team on idea-driven coverage and with the Explains team on service journalism.
- Work closely with Businessweek editors and art directors to produce the Pursuits section at an exceptional quality level.
- Assign, edit, and oversee stories, including soliciting and shaping contributions from across the newsroom.
- Launch new editorial products across platforms, including audio, video, and events.
- 10+ years of magazine/news experience, with expertise in digital and print media.
- Strong vision and sharp editorial judgment, with a passion for cultural and lifestyle topics and trends.
- Understanding of global business readers’ interests and needs.
- Proven collaboration skills with newsroom, media platform, product, and commercial teams.
- Knowledge of audience analytics and digital subscription ecosystems.
- Experience editing magazine features.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility, and creativity.
- Excellent team management and communication skills.
- International experience and/or managing globally distributed teams.
