Salary: Β£55,000 - 95,000 per year
Requirements:
- Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, Python, or Java
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience
- Prior contributions to system design and architecture, including scaling fault-tolerant distributed systems
- An honest approach to problem-solving and the ability to collaborate with peers, partners, and management
- In-depth knowledge of Linux/Unix
- Experience with blameless postmortems
- A passion for performance excellence, robustness, and an engineering mindset
Responsibilities:
- Write production-quality code, including reading, debugging, and developing software
- Build software that defines the environment in which component software runs
- Create dashboards to analyse current load and latency and plan for anticipated changes
- Build toolkits that enable software instrumentation
- Develop self-service platform technology for routine operations and incident response
- Integrate code with components across the entire system
- Collaborate with component teams to assess workflows and design appropriate interfaces
- Build applications that support workflows via self-service or automation
- Ensure new features are supportable in production without increasing operational load
- Advise component teams on existing solutions and fill gaps where needed
- Assess the impact of proposed system changes before production
- Investigate and resolve unexpected system behaviour and root-cause issues
