Bloomberg News is seeking a new Global Head of Newsroom Training who has the vision and adaptability to lead the professional development of our journalists around the world. You'll report to the Senior Executive Editor for Standards, Talent and Training. This role will serve a critical global leadership function to ensure our newsroom remains at the cutting edge of the industry's evolution. We are looking for someone who embodies the world-class standards of the Bloomberg Way and has deep financial literacy, a strong background in journalistic storytelling and a mastery of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • We will count on you to evolve our curriculum with innovative design and implementation to inspire journalists of the future (whether new hires or longer-tenured staff) with classes and workshops covering everything from core principles of the Bloomberg Way to cross-platform storytelling, navigation of the Bloomberg Terminal, investigative techniques and specific financial reporting skills.
  • You will act as a leading evangelist in the newsroom for responsible and ethical integration of generative AI and machine-learning tools into our reporting; inclusive storytelling that seeks out a range of voices and perspectives on every platform; and the delivery of accurate, fair, balanced, complete and incisive coverage.
  • Lead the design and implementation of business need-driven training in the newsroom.
  • Understand the strategic goals across the department, and develop curriculum that supports the execution of those goals.
  • Inspire journalists to embrace new technologies without abandoning our standards.
  • Increase accountability and transparency of training programs and initiatives.
  • Elevate the team globally as accessible, responsive and wise on the technology, skills and principles of modern journalism.
  • Stay acutely aware of the latest journalistic styles and best practices.
  • Lead an experienced team with unified vision, and consistent global expectations and goals.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional editorial judgment, with a proven track record as a senior editor or manager in a newsroom.
  • Experience in financial reporting, preferably with the Bloomberg Terminal.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership experience (defining goals, setting agenda, execution).
  • High-level understanding of how AI tools can be integrated into our journalism without sacrificing integrity.
  • Dynamic and influential presentation skills.
  • A global mindset and ability to connect with journalists from different cultures and backgrounds.
