BloombergNEF (BNEF) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our European gas and LNG team. You have a deep understanding of European gas and LNG markets and a track record of translating fundamental analysis into clear, defensible market views. You thrive in fast-moving markets and understand what matters to clients. You enjoy explaining complex subjects and constructively challenging others’ analysis. You will be based in the Bloomberg office in London, working as part of a research team at BloombergNEF (BNEF) – the world's leading independent provider of analysis, tools, data and research to decision makers leading change across the energy system. Our data-driven research helps clients stay on top of developments in the energy sector, supported by the unique depth and breadth of the Bloomberg Terminal and bnef.com platforms.

You will lead a team of analysts that produces primary research and analysis on short-term trends in the European gas and LNG market (weeks- to seasons-ahead) and the long-term future of gas in Europe’s energy mix. In addition to setting BNEF’s European gas and LNG research strategy and supporting the team in delivering high-quality analysis, you will contribute to shaping BNEF’s global gas and LNG coverage.

You will work closely with your counterparts covering the American and Asian gas and LNG markets, as well as with other BNEF teams focused on European power, carbon, policy and renewables. You will also collaborate regularly with other divisions, including Sales, Data and Product.

We will trust you to:

  • Shape and expand BNEF’s European gas and LNG coverage, setting priorities and ensuring the highest analytical standards of key reports and datasets
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team with diverse skillsets, fostering a collaborative and coherent research unit
  • Support business development through client interactions and collaboration with commercial teams
  • Serve as BNEF’s senior voice on the European gas and LNG market, both internally and externally and staying on top of industry trends
  • Communicate insights clearly and persuasively through written reports, datasets and models, public presentations, and direct client interactions
  • Ensure the quality of BNEF’s European gas and LNG analysis by checking the underlying analysis of the team and editing written reports
  • Work closely with Sales, Product, Data and other analyst teams to continue developing BNEF’s gas coverage

You’ll need to have:

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience in the European gas and LNG markets
  • Demonstrated ability to translate fundamental analysis into clear and defensible market and price views
  • Ability to navigate fast-moving markets and respond quickly to emerging developments
  • Quantitative skills (Excel, Python) and experience in building, running, and challenging supply-demand balances, forecasting methodologies, and quantitative models
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an aptitude for authoring reports and presentations
  • Client-facing skills and enthusiasm to represent the product both internally and externally
  • Ability to guide, challenge, and develop colleagues
  • Commercial judgement and an understanding of what matters most to clients
  • A natural aptitude for collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and an ability to run multiple tasks
  • Rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work
