Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from daily coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re‑inventing, all the time.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated reporter to join our Macro Markets team, based in London. From how the bond markets affect UK government policy to tracking how European policymakers fund huge spending programs, this is an opportunity to be at the forefront of the action. The beat covers everything from the impact of the dollar on global markets to how investors assess political risk. A dynamic role at the heart of Bloomberg coverage, it requires the ability to write on the intersection of markets, the economy and politics, presenting news and analysis that’s core to our vast international audience.
You will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with our team of expert reporters and editors both locally and across the region. You will be expected to explain European bonds and developed market currencies to a broad global audience, pounce on price action and publish quick stories to reflect developments. Such reporting will form the foundations for broader, ambitious stepback stories. You will also keep in touch with and publish interviews with some of the biggest names in the industry who handle billions of dollars in assets.
We’ll Trust You To:
- Write with authority and insight about UK and European financial markets including bonds, currency and short‑term interest rates, capturing the elements of both “what’s happening” and “what it means” against the backdrop of local and global trends.
- Cultivate a broad network of investors, traders and other market participants as sources to help break news and build deeper stories that explain market activity or analyze trends.
- Identify and interpret broader themes in currencies and rates, drawing upon expertise from across the market and the Bloomberg newsroom to help generate impactful stories that set the agenda for investors and policymakers.
You’ll Need To Have:
- At least 5 years of recent experience in financial journalism.
- A track record of breaking news on beat coverage in finance, economics or markets or experience generating outstanding and exclusive market reporting and analysis.
- The ability to tap into a wide variety of contacts, ranging from traders and investors to the biggest money managers, government officials and policy makers.
We’d Like To See:
- A knack for generating story ideas and finding the narrative in numbers, plus the dexterity to turn complex subjects into stories.
- A collaborative team spirit, the drive to innovate and a strong work ethic.
