Description & Requirements

We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Team Lead in London to own the direction of backup and recovery across the organization. You will set the vision, define the roadmap, and ensure delivery of a secure, scalable backup and recovery platform for Bloomberg Engineering. Leading a team of infrastructure and software engineers, you’ll work closely with Engineering COO and partners to ensure the platform consistently enforces backup and recovery policies and aligns with regulatory and operational requirements, safeguarding Bloomberg’s irreplaceable production data.

We’ll trust you to:

• Inspire and motivate the team to achieve outstanding results, while supporting individual growth and development

• Build partnerships with internal teams, and external stakeholders so that problems are well understood and solutions are aligned with expectations.

• Organize and prioritize the backlog of work with the team and stakeholders so that the most important and impactful work is addressed first

• Work with the engineers in the team to deliver high quality solutions that adhere to best practices.

• Create and execute on the strategy for backup and recovery product

• Drive technology vision, roadmap, and its execution

You’ll need to have:

• Proven technical leadership experience, growing talent, and guiding technical direction.

• Coding skills in C++, Python, or similar languages for performance testing and optimization tools.

• Strong analytical and data-driven approach to solving complex system challenges.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, COO, vendor and sourcing teams, both internal and externally.

We would love to see:

• Experience managing technical teams and projects

• Experience managing a highly visible distributed large system.

• A track record of building teams, aligning them with product, technical and compliance objectives.

• Demonstrated ability to create a team culture where individuals feel safe to innovate, share knowledge, independently assess risks and grow.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network across various teams and stakeholders to influence outcomes.
