Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock – from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes.
Carbon-related data has become increasingly crucial for our clients, providing deeper insights into risks and opportunities for corporates and financial players on the global path to net-zero. Our team delivers high-quality, transparent data and analytics on carbon markets — including emissions, carbon credits, renewable energy credits, and related instruments — across the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. Our mission is to provide fit-for-purpose, trustworthy carbon data that improves market transparency and empowers clients to make informed decisions about carbon pricing, risk management, and sustainability strategy.
Responsibilities
- Develop, scale, and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows that support carbon data ingestion, transformation, and delivery across multiple registries and products.
- Design and implement processes that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency—establishing a foundation for high-quality, fit-for-purpose carbon datasets.
- Drive programmatic updates to project universes, methodologies, sector taxonomies, and eligibility logic, ensuring standardization and alignment across diverse data sources.
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver strategic data solutions that advance product and client objectives.
- Establish data governance and reporting frameworks: define proactive quality strategies, automate validation checks, and monitor key performance indicators to uphold data integrity at scale.
- Generate actionable insights through statistical analysis and data visualization, communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.
- Stay ahead of market developments in carbon trading, compliance schemes, and emerging standards (e.g., CORSIA, REDD+, and ratings frameworks) to inform product evolution and roadmap decisions.
- Lead project execution using agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, QlikSense, or equivalent) to ensure the work remains aligned, transparent, and on schedule.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of both compliance and voluntary carbon markets, including registry structures, trading mechanisms, and project methodologies.
- 4+ years’ hands-on experience working with environmental markets data, with demonstrable expertise in data profiling and analytics, applying tools such as Python (Pandas), SQL, and Excel in production or development environments.
- Proven data management expertise, including data profiling, normalization, and data quality assurance—with experience developing proactive quality strategies, defining metrics, and reporting across teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify inefficiencies and design process improvements across data workflows.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated technical concepts for diverse audiences, influence partners, and lead multi-functional initiatives.
- Effective project management and prioritization skills, ensuring alignment between business requirements, technical delivery, and implementation timelines.

- Experience with semantic modeling and metadata management in large-scale data systems.
- Hands-on experience with agile tools (JIRA, Confluence) and BI dashboards (QlikSense, Power BI).
- Demonstrable ability to define and implement data quality metrics as a part of a bigger data architecture framework, understanding use cases, competitive offerings and client expectations.
