Asset owners, private equity and private credit investors, banks, and other market participants increasingly need trusted, connected, and discoverable private markets data to support sourcing, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and total portfolio analysis. Yet today, this information is often fragmented across providers, workflows, and internal tools.
Bloomberg’s private markets strategy is increasingly focused on building a foundational data layer that can power these workflows across the Terminal, Enterprise products, and portfolio and risk solutions. This includes strengthening Bloomberg’s coverage of private funds and the underlying companies and assets they own, improving the taxonomy and discoverability of private markets data, and enabling users to connect fund, company, transaction, valuation, and performance information in a scalable and permission‑aware way.
We are seeking a Private Funds Product Manager to lead this initiative. You will define and execute the product strategy for Bloomberg’s private funds and foundational private markets data capabilities, with an initial focus on private equity and private credit. You will help shape the core data model, sourcing strategy, and product roadmap that support Bloomberg’s long‑term ambition to become a leading provider of private markets data and workflow solutions.
You will partner closely with Engineering, Data, Enterprise Product, Buy‑Side Solutions, and Data Operations teams to deliver a modular, scalable data foundation that improves data quality, normalization, interoperability, and client value across Bloomberg products.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the product strategy for Bloomberg’s private funds and foundational private markets data layer
- Identify and prioritize the most critical data gaps across private funds, managers, holdings, portfolio companies, transactions, valuations, performance, and capital activity
- Lead initiatives around private markets taxonomy, identifiers, entity linkage, and search/discoverability so users can more easily find and analyze relevant funds, companies, and assets
- Drive data sourcing, contribution, normalization, and quality strategies across proprietary, public, client‑contributed, and third‑party datasets
- Partner with Engineering and Data teams on scalable data models, APIs, entitlements, and permissioned‑data capabilities
- Build and maintain a clear roadmap with phased MVPs that balance client impact, strategic fit, time to market, and technical complexity
- Ensure foundational data is usable across Bloomberg workflows, including research, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and risk analytics
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Data, Sales, and Operations to deliver solutions that support both existing Bloomberg clients and new private markets users
- Define and monitor success metrics tied to data coverage, freshness, linkage quality, discoverability, adoption, and business impact
Qualifications
- 7+ years of product management or relevant experience in private markets, financial data, or investment workflow products
- Strong knowledge of the Asset Owner (LP) workflows including screening, benchmarking, due diligence, portfolio monitoring; and their relationships with other market participants
- Understanding of private equity and/or private credit workflows, including sourcing, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and performance analysis
- Experience working with complex datasets and the challenges of sourcing, mastering, normalizing, and linking data across funds, companies, assets, and transactions
- Familiarity with private fund structures, manager and portfolio company data, ownership relationships, performance metrics, and valuation concepts
- Experience building or managing data products, platforms, or APIs used by investment professionals or enterprise clients
- Ability to translate ambiguous user problems into clear product requirements, phased roadmaps, and measurable outcomes
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills
Desired Experience
- Experience building private company intelligence, transaction data, fund performance, or portfolio analytics products
- Knowledge of taxonomy design, entity resolution, metadata management, or search/discoverability in financial data products
- Familiarity with permissioned or client‑contributed data, entitlements, and data governance
- Experience supporting workflows that span both public and private assets
- Understanding of the private markets data and software vendor landscape
- Experience evaluating build, buy, and partner decisions for strategic data capabilities
